Record when the error appears before changing settings: does the app never open, close after Play, or fail only on one server? This gives a support request a clear starting point and avoids repeating an unrelated installation fix.
How do you check a 0X803F8001 license error?
- Use View all accounts or Switch account in the Launcher account menu to check the account you intend to play with.

What if the Launcher will not install?
On Windows, downloading the installer from Minecraft.net still requires a Microsoft Store sign-in. Use the Store profile to sign out and back into the correct account. If the Store route fails, official installation help offers the Xbox app’s Minecraft Launcher Get/Install option or the operating-system download on Minecraft.net.
On Mac or Linux, skip Windows-specific repairs and choose the package for your own system. Editing the registry or deleting world saves is not part of this account and installer check.

What if it will not update or closes after Play?
The Launcher normally updates when opened. On Windows, check Microsoft Store → Library if it does not. A game that closes after Play is a separate symptom: record the selected game version and any displayed error or exit code.
General Launcher support also recommends reinstalling the app for missing dependencies. Keep the Launcher and world saves separate when considering that step. Do not delete the entire .minecraft or saves folder; if you do not know where your world is stored, get the correct backup instructions first.
The game opens, but a friend’s server will not connect
Ask the owner which version the server requires. A snapshot or preview can be incompatible with a regular server. Switch to the matching edition and required version; reinstalling an otherwise working Launcher does not resolve that mismatch.
What should you include in a support request?
Provide your operating system, edition, selected version, exact error and steps already attempted. Remove email addresses, invitation codes and other private information from screenshots. Never send your password; the useful evidence is the failure and its context.
