Can Switch 1 owners upgrade for free?

The upgrade goes through the Nintendo eShop only and it's a limited-time offer. Your Switch 1 copy has to be the digital version; Mojang's post says nothing about upgrading from a cartridge.

Two regions pay a token fee: 100 JPY in Japan and 30 NTD in Taiwan. You can also jump to the Deluxe Collection or Ultimate Collection at a discounted price; the eShop shows the exact amount on your account.

What's the difference between Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate?

Every edition, physical copy included, comes with the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack with Vibrant Visuals. The rest comes down to add-ons and Minecoins.

What each Minecraft Switch 2 edition includes

Standard Edition Super Mario Mash-Up Pack — —
Deluxe Collection Celebration Food, Rescue Dogs, Plenty O’Blocks 3x exclusive items 700
Ultimate Collection Deluxe add-ons + Decocraft, Weapons + Tools 5x exclusive items 1000

Bundled Minecoins, and any you buy on a Nintendo device, stay in the Nintendo ecosystem. They won't show up on your PC or Xbox, so factor that in if the coins are why you're eyeing Deluxe or Ultimate.

Does Vibrant Visuals work in every mode?

No. Mojang's fine print says Vibrant Visuals isn't available in split-screen and in some Marketplace worlds. Couch co-op on one screen runs with the classic look.

Is there a physical version?

Yes, the Switch 2 physical copy is up for pre-order at retail. Check local pricing on the eShop or at your retailer.
